Gaga has met with her performance artist Lady Starlight during this time and, following a performance at the Lollapalooza Festival in 2007 Gaga was signed by Vince Herbert to Streamline Records which is an imprint from Interscope Records. Gaga was an apprentice songwriter during an experience at Famous Music Publishing. This company was later bought and rebranded as Sony/ATV Music Publishing. She was later hired to compose songs for the support of Britney Spears and her label mates New Kids on the Block and Fergie. At Interscope, singer-songwriter Akon recognized her vocal abilities when she sang a reference vocal for one of his tracks in studio; Akon then convinced Interscope-Geffen-A&M Chairman and CEO Jimmy Iovine to form a joint deal by having her also sign with his own label Kon Live, making her his "franchise player. In 2008, Gaga released her first album 'The Fame' to little radio attention. Gaga was on tour throughout Europe as well as in gay clubs in the US to advertise the album. However, it wasn't until her first hit "Just Dance" gained the attention of the public in 2009 that Gaga was a star on the scene. Gaga was suffering from a labral injury to her right hip. She had been taking care of it in secret for a number of weeks so she could continue the tour. She was unable to walk after a concert in Toronto and was in extreme pain. The tour was stopped.
